MTV Networks Launching New Comedy Awards Ceremony! [PerezHilton.com]

Wow! This is pretty huge!
Viacom's MTV Networks have announced that they intend to start a new comedy awards franchise, appropriately titled The Comedy Awards, to be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom March 26th, and to be broadcast April 10th simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1, and Nick at Nite!
Wowza!
According to executive producer Don Mischer, the ceremony will recognize "the year's best comedy films, television series and digital content." The nominees - which will also include writers, directors, and actors in the field - have been selected by The Comedy Awards' board of directors, whose founding members include funnymen (and women) such as Billy CrystalWill FerrellWhoopi GoldbergSeth McFarlane, and Ray Romano!
Nice! We're totally looking forward to this!
A kind of ceremony celebrating this genre is long overdue!
Hopefully it will do well enough to continue on!
